Blog Success

Published on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Today we’re doing another blog topic day. Today’s question is: Is your blog a success? What defines blog success to you: great content you feel helps others, a high number of subscribers or just a unique place on the web to call your own?

After you answer this question in your blog, please leave a comment with the link so that it can be shared with everyone. (If you don’t, that’s an epic fail.)

Blog Block?

Published on Wednesday, September 10, 2008

For WordPress Wednesday we are changing the rules a bit today. Since this day can really be about blogging in general, we want to introduce a new idea to you. Like many great ideas, this one originated in Surmunity, and from our wonderful clients. This time - Rob and Cass!

We all know how important a blog can be to your website. It shows more about who you are and what you know. But sometimes we all face blog block and we’re not sure of what to write next. To get our creativity flowing, we’re going to start posting topics here for you to write about. Then we can all comment here with a link back to our new posts. Even I (Kayla) am going to do it!

The topic now is:

What made you want to start your own blog?

Ok… go!

We all look forward to seeing your posts! We will have an even better topic next week.

Flickr Albums

Published on Wednesday, May 28, 2008

W is for WordPress and W is for Wednesday! A perfect fit we think! Every week we will bring you a new tool to spice up your WordPress blog. Today’s tool is Flickr Photo Album for WordPress by Tan Tan Noodles. If you have a Flickr account you know that sometimes if you’re showing someone (who does not have Flickr) your albums, they really aren’t sure how Flickr works. It can be confusing to a new user. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way you could easily put your Flickr photos on your website in a more friendly way? Tan Tan Noodles shows us how!

This is what this tool is capable of doing:

* Display your Flickr photo sets as albums on your site
* Search engine friendly URLs
* Complete control over the look and feel, see below for customization details
* Show or hide your photos that have been marked ‘private’
* Flickr notes (Firefox only) and Flickr comments are supported
* Adds a new Flickr icon to your media bar which allows you to easily add Flickr photos to any blog post. Browse your photos by tags, album, or search everyone’s photos by tags
* Use WordPress shortcodes to easily insert photos from an album into a post. Eg: [flickr album=1234567] will insert into your post photos from album with id of “1234567”.
* Supports WordPress Widgets: Pull in your recent photos into your sidebar.

Check out the demo to see for yourself how easy and useful this tool is! Just click here.
