Loads of comments - well, it depends of the quality of comments - if there all from guys with keywords for names saying "nice post, dude", then no! For me it's the numbers of unique visitors going up year on year. The most important thing to be is that plus pages per visit, time on site, bounce rate, etc. No good having a blog that no one visits!
